Halswell Quarry Fun Day

Dear Parents/Caregivers
The Kākano Team is heading to the Halswell Quarry for a day of fun and activities to conclude 2015. The students will be travelling to and from the Quarry by bus. The theme is Pirate and Princess day.
Where: Halswell Quarry Reserve – Findlay’s Picnic Area 1 & 2
When: Monday 14 December. We will be leaving school at 10.30am and returning from the Quarry at 2:30pm.
The students will need…
Lunch and morning tea, a water bottle, suitable footwear, hat, sunscreen and a warm sweatshirt should the weather be cooler. Students are welcome to wear pirate or princess clothing.
If students require medication, this will need to be given to classroom teachers in a named container. Those students who require asthma inhalers need to carry these themselves.
In order for this trip to happen we need parent helpers. If you can help out, then please fill in the relevant part of the form below. Parents who are unable to help for the whole day are welcome to come to the Quarry at any time during the day for a visit. Lunch will be from 12.40 - 1.10pm. A surprise visitor will arrive at 1.55.
Students who have not paid for this trip will be staying at school. If the weather is inclement, the trip will be cancelled and an alternative programme will run at school. Students should come to school prepared for the trip in any case. We will put a message on the school phone if needed.

RUN/JUMP/THROW DAY
Kākano Run, Jump, Throw Day 2015
Our Run, Jump, Throw day is being held this Friday on 27 November. Children can wear house colours and need to be wearing sensible clothing and sports shoes as they will be running all day. Children need to wear a wide brimmed hat and have a named drink bottle with them on the day. Please put sunblock on your child before they come to school.
Below is a guideline as to what children will be doing on the day.
9.30: Opening on courts
9.45-11: Participate in 3 rotation activities ( 1 running, 1 jumping and 1 throwing).
11-11.30: Morning Tea
11.30 - 12: Relay races in classes
12-12.30: Age group sprint finals.
12.30: Closing on courts
12.40: Shared lunch on field. All families welcome to bring their lunch and eat on the field with your child
We look forward to seeing you there to support your children as they showcase their running, jumping and throwing skills they have been learning in PE this term.
